Peter Daniel... a little history as we celebrate our 37th year!

The name Peter Daniel comes from my dad, Peter Hammond and his friend Daniel Thomson who in 1973 opened a men's haberdashery in the Countryside Mall in Palatine.

In 1984 the store was moved to the upper level of the Ice House Mall located in downtown Barrington, until the year 2000 when we renovated and moved to the first floor, expanding our selection. Over the years my mother Evelyn, sisters Becky and Bridget, and I created an equally impressive boutique for women.

Sadly, our Dad passed away in 2003. In 2001 we opened The North Face Base Camp Shop to appeal to our adventurous, youthful winter sports enthusiasts and those seeking warmth and comfort while running errands around town.

Throughout the years, we have enjoyed a special relationship with our customers - many of whom have become friends and remained so even after moving away. Every year at this time we, as a family, reflect on how fortunate we are to have such wonderful customers and employees who have allowed us to continue thriving after all these years.
